Silver is a colour that can be hard to sell when decorating. Used gently in this room, against the warm wood of the dining table and side board, it gives the space a shimmer that is imperative. The faintly woven texture of the wallpaper adds an immediate sophistication.
Touches of the colour oyster seen in the sweeping oval wall mirror and also in the fabric of the dining chairs help to create balance. The blue glass bowl and the wild flowers in the silver trimmed vase, give the room the requisite spike.
The studding and the square, polished nickel chair pulls are a real revelation. My favourite, if I was made to pick one thing are the curtain tie back cuffs, which are absolutely stunning. The detail of the diffuser and finial on the pendant light are also thoughtful.
This is a refined dining room. Designer Taylor Howes has paid attention to the devil, the devil in the detail that is.
