Punchy pastel paint colours are a current trend in interior design and like a lot of fads, they can march out as fast as they rushed in. If you like your rooms to have broad appeal then muted pastels may be a little easier to live with. The trick is to start with the true pastel hue and grey it down, down, down, until it implies the colour rather than shouts it out.
