The delightful idea behind the bar trolley or side table is the small space it can take up. Most people don’t have the space, or the cash to create an elaborate built-in bar. A corner of a sitting or dining room can easily do the job.
The shape and material used for the bar trolley itself is open to your imagination. Chrome carts are fashionable at the moment, but I have seen lovely trolleys in bamboo and even timber painted in bright colours.
Well stocked is the imperative when tackling what is needed to keep your guests happy. The obvious wine, martini and champagne glasses in any configuration are a must. Tumblers for spirits are also helpful. A cork screw, martini shaker and drink coasters are also necessary.
When it comes to choosing your liquors a few different spirits will appeal. I am sometimes accused of only buying spirits that have good looking bottles that colour co-ordinate together. Guilty as charged. Also, don’t forget to offer a good range of mixers.
A small tray carrying sliced lemon, limes and even olives for your martini drinkers is a lovely last touch.
